Elisabeth Storrs
Elisabeth Storrs has long had a passion in the history, myths and legends of the ancient world. She graduated from Sydney University with a degree in Arts Law having studied Latin, Ancient Greek and Ancient History along the way. This interest has led her to writing novels about Etruria, Rome and Troy.
Over the years Elisabeth has worked as a solicitor, corporate lawyer, senior executive and company secretary. At present she runs a consultancy company advising large and small corporations on corporate governance and company secretarial practices.
Elisabeth was inspired to write her first novel, The Wedding Shroud – A Tale of Early Rome, after finding a photo of a C6th BC sarcophagus of an Etruscan husband and his wife that she later located in the Louvre. The casket was unusual because, in this period of history, couples were not depicted together let alone in a pose of such affection.
The image of the Etruscan lovers remained with Elisabeth. What kind of ancient culture exalted marital fidelity while showing such an openly sensuous connection? Discovering the answer led her to the decadent and mystical Etruscan civilization. The Wedding Shroud will be published in Australia by Pier 9/Murdoch Books in September 2010.
