Fleur McDonald
Fleur McDonald was born and bred in Orroroo, in the mid-north of South Australia. Her parents were fuel distributors and Fleur spent some of her childhood in the fuel trucks with her father, heading north, meeting a host of wonderful characters.
When Fleur left school she worked as a jillaroo in South-Eastern South Australia and then in Western Australia, where she met her husband. In 1994 she attended Marcus Oldham Farm Management College to study Agribusiness.
Two days after marrying in 1996, Fleur and her husband bought their first farm. They now farm 8000 acres, east of Esperance in Western Australia, and have two children.
Fleur’s first novel, Red Dust, was published in May 2009 with German language rights sold before publication. Fleur’s second book, Blue Sky, was published in 2010 and her third, Purple Roads, in May 2012. When she’s not feeding the cows, she’s working on her fourth book, Silver Gums.
