Tony Mahood

Tony grew up on a dairy farm in North Victoria near a small country town called Nathalia. His childhood was spent building tree houses, swimming in the Broken Creek and milking cows. Usually not in that order. Farm work was always at the top of the list.

Tony couldn’t wait to leave school and studied acting at NIDA in Sydney. This lead him to his love of writing and he went on to work in the film industry as a writer, director and producer for fifteen years. His credits include, Proof, Muriel’s Wedding and River Street.

Longing to get back to the country, Tony recently moved from Sydney to the deep south of Tasmania with his producer wife, Lynda House. Here they bought a small vineyard on the D’entrecasteaux Channel and a boat. Tony now spends his time writing children’s fiction in a converted hay shed, pruning pinot vines and diving for crayfish. Usually not in that order. Crayfish and wine are always at the top of the list.

Tony’s first novel, MATTHEW BORRICK, will be on offer internationally early 2010.
