Steve is a writer and journalist, whose first novel A Fatal Tide, will be published by Random House in late 2014 as Australia prepares to mark the Centenary of World War One.
Before taking up fiction writing, Steve worked as a journalist for almost four decades in newspapers, television and radio in Melbourne, Sydney, London, Washington and New Delhi.
During a 26-year career with the ABC, he was bureau chief in North America and in South Asia, and executive producer of The World Today. Aunty published two of his radio documentaries, including ‘Stories from Gallipoli’ republished in 2013.
For his novel set in Queensland and Turkey, Steve drew on his interviews with the aging veterans during their emotional return to the old battlefields for the 75th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli.
Steve has won two Walkley awards and has a Master of Arts from Macquarie University. He lives in Sydney with his wife Carolyn and three daughters.
